Sean Reilly belongs to the gulf. The bond was forged when he faked his death by diving in, and honored as waves carried Sean out of a statewide manhunt and into Morgan’s saving graces. Six months after the events of Keep the Ghost, that same ocean brings our intrepid fugitive to a desolate island off Mexico’s east coast. There are just a couple thousand people on Isla Holbox, and only five police officers. Normally, he’d like that fine – but normally, someone isn’t trying to murder him.
Nothing is simple anymore. Back in the States, he could trust Morgan completely. She was his mentor and guide. Now, something has changed. Something from their past has reached Holbox, and Sean’s introduction to it rides along on a bullet aimed squarely at him. Someone wants him dead, and he doesn’t know who or why. Morgan might, but when has she ever told him the truth?
And that’s just start of his problems. If Sean ever hopes to escape into the gulf again, he’ll have to break free from a box of his own making. In doing so, he’ll answer the question: Can a person ever truly remake themselves?

Derek may or may not deserve to be stalked by an unhinged ex-marine – he’s not sure. He did kill the man’s entire family in a car accident, and he may have been drinking, though thanks to the resulting coma he can’t remember much about that day. And that’s okay, because Derek is learning all about it from the district attorney as he explains to the jury why the young painter should go to prison.
Prison isn’t right now, though – it isn’t breaking into his home, stabbing him, or kidnapping him at gunpoint. And managing his stalker would be much easier if Derek could see him coming. But, he’s incapable of recognizing the man tormenting him, or anyone else. Can’t even recognize his own face in the mirror. Since Derek woke up from his coma, he’s been face blind: a rare condition that renders him unable to identify people by their appearances.
Anyone in Derek’s world of strangers could be his stalker. In this mind-bending thriller, the talented painter is pushed to a tipping point as his reality unravels at the hands of a madman. On its surface, The Blue is a gritty suspense novel about a man’s quest for redemption. Dig deeper and it asks questions about the nature of guilt, innocence, reality and revenge.

Six teens are devoted to a game with one rule: If a player gets tagged, they must change their life within the next fifteen minutes. The better the player, the bigger the change. One might give their car away, or punch the school bully. Another might change identities or sacrifice their virginity. Anything to keep evolving, to avoid fitting into a label or caring about the junk they own. But their quest for enlightenment has taken a rotten final turn – one of the players has murdered the game’s creator, the teen prophet (cult leader?) David Bloom.
Our narrator is being framed for the crime; can he clear his name and discover which of his lifelong friends is the murderer before he takes the fall?
[sic] is a gritty teen murder mystery that delves into the psychology of enlightenment among the criminally dysfunctional.
I first read ‘[sic]’ on Wattpad back in 2012 when I was thirteen years old. Since then, I have read it at least once every year. Thank you for writing one of my favorite books of all time.
Sic was amazing. I didn’t know what to expect from it when I first started but wow! I’m so glad I downloaded it and can’t wait to start your next book!
Great read really does make you think, let’s you see things from different point of views.
I could see myself in the characters on both sides of this drama. The accuser so righteous and sure, the perpetrator confused and guilt ridden. The author is very good at evoking feelings for both sides of at issue. I will read everything I can find by Scott Kelly.
Definitely a book off the beaten path!! I enjoyed it! I don’t like reading books that have a “formula”!! It was just a bit gory in places..nothing to bad.
I haven’t found a book in a very long time that kept my interest but keep the ghost I couldn’t put down. It was regressing. Can’t wait to read what’s in the making for book 2 in the shadow
Loved this story. Very compelling. Well told. Couldn’t stop reading it til I was finished.
I loved this book! So not the usual drama. Innovative and crazy! You should read it too
Great book. Keeps you going until the end.
The Blue: I was hooked by the first chapter. What a fascinating read. Enjoyed every page. Loved the raw way it was written. I look forward to reading more of Scott Kelly’s work.
Just finished reading Keep the Ghost. It was a page turner. Real good.
I just finished Keep the Ghost. I was not convinced I’d like a story regarding this
much maligned young man but it was refreshingly original and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Like a previous reviewer stated, “I hope there’s a sequel!” An interesting story for young and not so young alike. A good “guy” read.
Love this talented writer who has interesting story lines and tells a tale with such ease and near flawless prose. Just finished Keep the Ghost.
I have just finished Blue ….. Great storyline…different from the usual stuff….no long boring descriptions….no long, impossible, boring fist fights….believable characters…. Best read jin a long time.I definitely would love more of this guy with the strange medical condition.ofdarcy,
This was soo good. I could not stop reading, even though I had to work. I can’t wait to read more.
I am pissed that the book ended in this. I want to know the rest of the story.
This was a great book I hope there is a sequel to it. I will definitely be reading all of your novels I’m definitely a fan. I received this book free through a promotional offer and now that I’ve experienced your style in writing I’ll be happy to pay to read the rest of your novels. You definitely have a gift never stop writing.
Great book. Loved the story line. Good to see some fresh ideas when it comes to writing. Can’t wait to read sic.
4 stars! Great book
Hated to take a breather from time to time but I just had to. Left me breathless.
Enjoyable and different read which was something that I enjoy as I read a lot and it’s refreshing to read something different
Enjoyable and entertaining author
Just finished Keep the Ghost and was very impressed. I’m looking forward to reading [sic].
I Really enjoyed this book!!! I would like to read more of this authors books.
The story builds slowly and steadily. Nothing seems to make sense until everything makes sense. The noose seems to tighten little by little. This author is brimming with talent and energy. I have only read Keep the Ghosts, I can’t wait to read the rest. P.S. Don’t let the publishers and agents keep us from true talent.
Very compelling!
HOLY MOLEY! Admittedly, the suspense was such that I had to take a “breather”! Excellent characters and the plot keeps you guessing all the way to the end!
SIC is truly an amazing book. Scott Kelly is a gifted writer… and every page is vivid and real.
This was the first novel by Scott Kelly that I’ve read. I highly recommend it.
It is unusual, if not unique. Can’t wait to start another of his novels.
Very good book
Just read Blue, loved it, totally different. This is your gift, never stop
I’ve read keep the ghost and sic in the past few days, all I can say is they are the best books I’ve ever read. I love the way you write, it really does make you think about so many aspects of life. I think these books should be in every high school in America. Some people may not like thinking but I know me and my friends do, and these would be a big hit if they got out there a little bit more. I’m excited to read the blue next, hope more books come out soon too!
Great book! It’s the middle of the night and I couldn’t put it down until I finished can’t wait to read more of your books!
